Welcome to the home of Urbana Youth Basketball

The Urbana Recreation Council Basketball program was formed to allow young athletes in the Urbana area the opportunity to play together and develop the team chemistry that will create a more enjoyable and successful culture as they move up to and through Urbana High School.

We are a non-profit volunteer organization that is here to provide the opportunity for young athletes to play the great game of basketball!

Urbana Middle School Feeder 5/6 Grade Girls Travel Basketball Tryout Schedule

First Session: Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 5p to 6:45p at Urbana Middle School (UMS)

Yoiu must attend the first session.

If necessary, there may be a second session of Friday, October 25, 2024 from 6:45p to 8:25 at UMS that you may be required to attend.

ALL players will be required to come to the FIRST night of the tryout. At the end of the first night, certain players will be informed that they will not make the team and certain players will be invited to the 2nd night tryout if necessary. In most cases the teams will be selected by the end of the 2nd night of tryouts.

URBANA MID-MARYLAND BASKETBALL TRYOUTS REGISTRATION

Registration to tryout for one of our Urbana Mid-Maryland Basketball teams opens up October 1, 2024 and closes October 11, 2024.  You must register in order to tryout.  This year we will have the following teams / grade groups:

  • 6th Grade Boys (new for this season! For 5th and 6th graders) - 1 team
  • JV Boys (For 6th and 7th graders) - 1 team
  • Varsity Boys (For 6th, 7th, and 8th graders) - 1 team
  • JV Girls (For 5th, 6th, and 7th graders) - 1 team
  • Varsity Girls (For 6th, 7th and 8th graders) - 1 team

2024-25 Winter Basketball Season Information

Urbana Rec Basketball:

Registration for our 2024-25 winter rec basketball season will open in September.

Practices will begin in early November.

Volunteer coaches are always needed.  If you are interested in volunteering to coach a rec team please use the Coaching Registration link here.

 

Urbana Travel Basketball (Mid-Maryland League):

Open Gym Sessions for middle school grade boys and girls interested in trying out for the travel teams will be starting in September through mid-October at UMS.  Registration for Open Gym sessions for boys and girls will open in August.

Registration and Tryouts for our Urbana Mid-Maryland Middle School League boys and girls travel teams will open in September.  Tryouts will be in mid-October with practices starting in late October.  Please check back with our website at that time for more information.
