Greetings URC Spring Boys Basketball Families:   Below you will find the Boys Division evaluation schedule for the 2024 Urbana Rec Spring Basketball League.  At this point, the league is shaping up to have 3 divisions: 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade, 7th/8th grade. Evaluations/Draft/Team Assignments:  As a previously stated goal and mission of this league, player development and team parity is paramount.  These evaluations (NOT tryouts) will allow coaches to properly evaluate the players against their peers so that they can allocate them across the teams and divisions to help ensure parity.   We ask that you make it a priority for your child to attend their scheduled session. Once this process occurs team assignments will be made.   The schedule is as follows:   Wednesday, 3/19/25   Group: 3 – 4th Grade BOYS   Location: Urbana Elementary School   Time:  Check-in starts 6:00p.  Evaluation starts 6:15p to 7:05p.       Wednesday, 3/19/25   Group: 5 – 6th Grade BOYS   Location: Urbana Elementary School   Time:  Check-in starts 7:10p.  Evaluation starts 7:15p to 8:10p.       Wednesday, 3/19/25   Group: 7 – 8th Grade BOYS   Location: Urbana Elementary School   Time:  Check-in starts 8:10p.  Evaluation starts 8:15p to 9:00p.     *Please note that should schools or Rec Centers close on a session day during that week due to the weather, etc. we will reschedule for later in the week. Once the evaluations are complete, team and coach assignments will be made and practice schedules can be set and communicated. Urbana Rec Spring Girls Basketball Families:   Below you will find the Girl’s Division evaluation schedule for the 2024 Urbana Rec Spring Basketball League. We realize this is quite a bit of information but please read every detail carefully. At this point, the league is shaping up with the girls division having two age groups: Juniors/Elementary grades and Seniors/Middle school grades.  This is very similar to past years.   Evaluations/Draft/Team Assignments:  As a previously stated goal and mission of this league, player development and team parity is paramount.  These evaluations (are NOT tryouts) will allow coaches to properly evaluate the players against their peers so that they can allocate them across the teams and divisions to help ensure parity.   We ask that you make it a priority for your child to attend their scheduled session. Once this process occurs team assignments will be made.   The evaluation schedule for your child is as follows: Tuesday, 3/18/25 Location: Urbana Elementary Time:  Check-in starts 6:15p.  Evaluation starts 6:30p to 7:20p. We are looking for parents or volunteers to coach a team in both the girls and boys basketball divisions. If you know of a coach or if you are willing to coach, please go to https://registration.teamsnap.com/form/22375  to register. Since the Urbana Basketball Association / Urbana Rec Council is an extension of the Frederick County Parks and Recreation organization we are required to have all of our coaches (head and assistants) complete a background check for each sport season and abide by the Coaches Code of Conduct.  Practices are twice a week and games are on Saturday’s and/or Sunday’s thru the first week of June.  

The URC 2025 Spring Basketball Registration is now open! This league is offered to Urbana area boys and girls currently in 3rd through 8th grade. This a great program for players wo want to continue their basketball development during the spring-late March to late May. There will be one to two practices per week and one to two games per week at local Urbana area facilities. Register by February 28, 2025 you will be eligible for a discounted rate of $175 per player.
