Please read this BEFORE registration. There is quite a bit of information. Any general questions, please reference our website first and then email if needed. We will try to answer emails in a timely manner however allow for 48 hours before a response.
We anticipate several athletes to be waitlisted however, this is to ensure proper registration numbers for each team in each age group. Do not be concerned if your child is put onto a waitlist. We hope to push waitlists through all week long as registrations come in and we fill up additional teams at all age groups. Registration will close on January 20th at noon and there will be no exceptions to thi cut off date. Any athletes that are waitlisted at that point will be contacted with options. Please ensure you are selecting the correct grade group for your child. If you register into the wrong grade and their correct grade ends up waitlisted you will be added to the bottom of that waitlist.
When you are moved from the waitlist you will be emailed and have 24 hours to register after you are offered the open space or you will forfeit your spot and move down to the bottom of the waitlist for that age group.
The new clinic program is for our brand new players grades 5-8 for boys and girls. We are offering this as a first year option. There is more information on our website about this opportunity. It is not mandatory for new players at these ages but encouraged if you feel that your player would benefit from a slightly slower pace introduction to the sport. Our 5th-8th grade teams are often a heavy blend of returning rec players and various club level players. While we work on player development for all ages, we do start at a faster pace with our older players.
In your confirmation email there will be a link to order your uniform. Our 7th/8th grade boys wear porthole jerseys. The boys' shorts are the same across all age groups and all ages below grade 7 wear the same reversible jersey. The 7th/8th grade boys must have BOTH a white and a navy porthole. You will NOT input a number when ordering a jersey, with how the grade groups change each year, there is a numbering system to ensure no overlap between three grade groups.
There are no requests for teams or coaches. In order for us to ensure well balanced teams at all age groups the URC Lacrosse board and coaches work together to best place players based on grade and skill level. Our 1st/2nd grade teams will be divided as evenly as possible. This is the most challenging age group to divide as rosters are very small. If the coaches schedules work out we hope to keep practice times and location the same across age groups with multiple teams so we can have scrimmages through the season. Rest assured they all end up back together as they get older. Our 3rd/4th boys teams have the option of an A or B level and we will determine that distinction. Only A level will play full field with the option of long poles. Again, we place players on these teams based on age, playing history and coaches recommendation. Girls teams will not have an A/B distinction at any age group again this year.
We will have a URC Lacrosse helmet and womens goggle store linked on our website after the holidays. The pricing is better than retail on these items. These must be ordered separately to ensure delivery prior to the first practice so there will be a shipping charge on this as well as the other uniform and apparel store. The apparel store will also open after the holiday and close a week after registration closes. Play It Again sports also has used gear that is still in good shape for sale through the year and we will share links on the website as we find good deals available.
Our season will kick off Feb. 17th and 20th with clinics at UHS. This will be a play day opportunity for all registered players. More information on this will be sent out closer to those dates. If there is snow on the ground we will not be able to hold these clinics. We will begin practices for our 1st-8th teams on Monday Feb. 24th. Our first games will be away as the county will not be opening UDP, Centerville or Campus Drive fields until March 31st. Scoopers and our NEW Clinic program will begin early March. We will again use the firehouse field for most of our early season practices due to county field restrictions.
There is a discount code for multi player registration. SIBLING25 is the code to input if you are registering more than one child in your household. There will not be refunds for those who forget to input the code so please be mindful and enter it prior to check out.
Finally, you must pick a volunteer role. There are several options. Only those who have already filled out the coaches interest form should select head or assistant coach. If you are planning on coaching (head or assistant) and have not yet filled out the form please go to our website and fill the form out asap. The team parent role is to assist the coaches with parent communication and help organize snack schedules, event coordination within the team, etc. The event committee helps with organizing and planning our end of season cookout and supports the Powder Puff game. Our 8th grade recognition committee should be non 8th grade families and will help to plan and support all of the Powder Puff events and our 8th grade "adoption." If you prefer to opt out or would like to make a donation to the program, you would select opt out and there will be $250 added to your cart at check out.
We are really looking forward to a great spring season ahead and could not do it without U!
